A Victorian Ghost Ballerina Art Doll...

Please meet Anna...
Anna was named after the famous Russian ballerina Anna Pavlova who danced in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. "She was widely regarded as one of the finest classical ballet dancers in history and was most noted as a principal artist of the Imperial Russian Ballet and the Ballets Russes of Sergei Diaghilev. Pavlova was most recognized for the creation of the role The Dying Swan and, with her own company, became the first ballerina to tour ballet around the world".

My interpretation of Anna is that she is her long lost ghost, who will always be remembered as one of the finest classical ballet dancers in the history.

I hope you have enjoyed these pictures of Anna.

Wishing everyone a beautiful weekend!

Anna Pavlova was known for her "daintiness, fragility and lightness". Evelyn, you have captured this all in your doll and more. As well, Anna has a haunted sensibility with a longing and wisdom in her face. With her delicate tiny slippers, her bony frame and gorgeous antique lace skirt she is certainly a rare beauty. Your craftmanship continues to astound me! I love her!
